As one does when looking for cowgirls on the interwebs I stumbled across the artwork of Laura Lakey and her husband John. Their art tends towards sci-fi and fantasy (they contributed a lot of artwork to the Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 books, for example), but they also have terrific western art, particularly in the realm of the cowgirl.
