Have I posted about Barry Denton yet?  Shame on me if I haven’t.  Not only is he a great photographer of westerns and pinups, he apparently also rents out his Arizona ranch for other photographers and brings in models.  One of the photographers seems to have a thing for dirty, half naked blacksmiths.  Seeing the results, can you blame him?  Thank you, Floyd Harris, for sharing these great shots.

The Best Thing to Come Out of the Jonah Hex Movie…

… is this image from the cover of JH #53, which was clearly done to imitate the style of the movie.  Not sure about the guns, though.  It looks like Hex is carrying a Volcanic pistol, which I don’t believe he ever does in the comics.  I have no idea what kind of rifle that is- a Spencer?  The soiled dove sure is purty, though.

Joey Garza- Heartless Killer or Romantic Hero?

While yet again exploring the interwebs (instead of working on my long-neglected novel) I found an artist that has painted a few romantic pieces about Joey Garza from Larry McMurtry’s Streets of Laredo.  Garza is a remorseless teenage killer and rifleman, not someone that you think would be overly romanticized.  Heck, who am I kidding, this is the same genre that romanticizes Billy the Kid.  So what do you think, McMurtry fans- is Joey Garza a heartless killer or a romantic hero?
