Quickshots: El Topo; Jodo? No Bueno!

Here's an apt description of this movie: See the naked young Franciscans whipped with cactus. See the bandit leader disemboweled. See the priest ride into the sunset with a midget and her newborn baby. What it all means isn't exactly clear, but you won't forget it.

I tell you I tried.  I really did.  As someone who likes creepy, sci-fi, existential, weird, western, and art films, I am right in the target demographic for Jodorowsky.  However, I have not been able to make it through a single movie or comic book of his.  El Topo, his "masterful" western, is no exception.

Saddle Tramp

Haven't seen this one, but take a good look at that first image.  That's Hyapatia Lee and Nina Hartley!  Two legends.  Hyapatia Lee is of Cherokee descent and made an effort to do respectful Native American themed adult films.  Not sure if Saddle Tramp counts (although she did write this one as well as star in it), I think she made a better effort in a movie called Snake Dance that I'll post about eventually.

I will admit that I have not seen this one.  I really want to see the first before I see the sequel so I can fully embrace the story.

Haven't seen it, to the best of my understanding this is a bio-pic of Senator John McCain's family coming to Arizona.

I can't even make a joke about this one.

Is this a dirty movie or just a movie from a time when they were dirtier in general?  Here's a quote from the IMDB page:

"This film is about the successful "two-bit chiseling son of a bitch" Diamond Jim. He rides his personal rail around the country, smoking cigars and having love affairs."

This might be a selection of deleted scenes from Deadwood.

I have no idea what this is about, but look, guys on horses!  Also good to see that the Playboy Bunny look has been around since the 19th century.

The Bone Ranger

From IMDB:

That might be a different version of The Bone Ranger.

Pondering that Picture of Josephine Marcus Earp, aka "Sadie"

Josephine "Sadie" Marcus Earp was the mistress-turned-wife of famed lawman Wyatt Earp.  Legend has it that, searching her family belongings after her death, a nude photograph of Mrs. Earp fell out of  book that had belonged to her husband.  This image might have been it- hard to tell, as as I've read that this isn't really Sadie, but popular legend says it is.  This is back in the days before you whipped your phone out of your pocket to text nudes to your boyfriend; heck, this was before digital cameras and Polaroid.  In the 1880's you really had to go out of your way to get a naked picture to your loved ones.

This image was recreated in the dueling Wyatt Earp films of the 1990's.  Tombstone is most people's favorite, but Mrs. Slap and I agree that Wyatt Earp was best.  They both did a nice job with Sadie.

On Instagram I randomly fell across this picture of Misty MacCallister, a writer who gets some attention with mostly undress photos; not sure that will work for good old Slap. 

Even as a former vegetarian hippy I love following hunters on Instagram, especially ones who post stuff like this. 

Is Red Dead Redemption a western role-playing game or a dress-up game?  Both, of course.
